Davao Deploys 16,000 Police for Pasko Fiesta Security
Davao's Massive Holiday Security Plan for Pasko Fiesta

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) is mobilizing one of its most extensive security operations to date for the upcoming holiday season, preparing to deploy a massive force to ensure public safety during the month-long Pasko Fiesta celebrations.

Massive Police Deployment for Holiday Security

During the Davao Peace and Security Press Briefing held at The Royal Mandaya Hotel on November 19, DCPO spokesperson Captain Hazel Tuazon revealed that more than 16,000 personnel will be deployed specifically for the festivities. The full deployment commenced on November 21, strategically timed before the anticipated surge in crowds at major parks, entertainment districts, and community venues throughout the city.

Captain Tuazon clarified that this substantial number covers only personnel under DCPO's direct command, including both Philippine National Police officers and Police Auxiliaries. She emphasized that the operation focuses on maximizing police visibility, enhancing crowd control measures, and preventing opportunistic crimes as both residents and tourists participate in traditional Christmas events.

Comprehensive Security Strategy

"This mobilization shows our commitment to keeping Davao safe so families and visitors can enjoy the season," Tuazon stated during the briefing. She highlighted that early preparations are particularly crucial for high-attendance events like Pasko Fiesta, which traditionally attracts large crowds from across the Davao Region and beyond.

The security operation aims to proactively address potential challenges by maintaining a strong police presence in areas expecting the highest foot traffic. This strategic approach ensures that security personnel can respond quickly to any incidents while deterring criminal activity through visible policing.

Tourism Preparations and Budget Adjustments

While security measures ramp up, tourism preparations are also advancing. The City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) confirmed that this year's Pasko Fiesta budget is set at P44 million, representing a decrease from the P52 million allocation in 2024.

CTOO administrative officer Charlotte Parba explained that her office initially proposed P32 million but later requested an additional P12 million through a supplemental budget. Despite this increase, the final allocation remains P8 million below last year's budget, requiring organizers to streamline costs while maintaining the festivities' engaging and vibrant character.

With both security and event preparations coordinated effectively, Davao City aims to deliver a safe, festive, and memorable holiday experience for all residents and visitors during this year's Pasko Fiesta celebrations.
