Authorities have arrested a fisherman and confiscated illegal drugs and a firearm during an anti-drug operation in Lanao del Norte, police reported on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.
Arrest and Seizure
Police Colonel Leo De Leon Sua, provincial police director, identified the suspect as alias Jun-Jun, 29, a fisherman. The arrest occurred around 12:50 a.m. on Wednesday in Darumawang Ilaya village, Lala, Lanao del Norte, during a buy-bust operation.
According to Sua, a police poseur-buyer purchased one small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu weighing approximately 0.10 gram, valued at P680 under the standard drug price.
Confiscated Items
A subsequent body search and inventory led to the recovery of a large rectangular heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing shabu weighing approximately 3.60 grams, worth P24,480. Additionally, authorities seized a caliber .38 revolver with five rounds of ammunition, P500 in marked money, and other non-drug items.
The total estimated weight of the purchased and confiscated shabu was approximately 3.70 grams, with an estimated value of P25,160.
Legal Charges
Charges will be filed against the suspect for violations of Sections 5, 11, and 12 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
The arrested individual is currently under the custody of the Lala Municipal Police Station for documentation and proper disposition.
