Motorcycle Rider Dies in Mandaue Trailer Truck Accident

A 38-year-old female motorcycle driver was declared dead on arrival after being hit and run over by a tractor-head truck at around 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. The incident occurred on Cansaga Bay Bridge, near Barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City.

Victim Identified

The victim was identified as Junalyn Capoy, a resident of Sityo Tiltilon, Barangay Cotcot, Liloan Municipality.

According to the investigation of the Mandaue City Police Office Traffic Division, the truck was driven by Roger Soreño, 57, currently residing at Nocos Hauling Services Inc. Yards in Libo, Barangay Tayud, Consolacion Municipality.

Accident Details

The truck and the motorcycle driven by the victim were both traveling on the outer lane of Cansaga Bridge heading south. Soreño reportedly did not notice that he had hit the motorcycle, causing it to be sideswiped and the rider to fall onto the road, where she was run over by the wheel.

The truck driver, unaware of the accident, continued driving but was stopped by traffic personnel from the TEAM on U.N Avenue near Pacific Mall, who informed him of the incident.

Soreño is now in the custody of the Mandaue City Police Office and may face charges of Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Homicide with Damage to Property.
