A major police sting in Leyte resulted in a significant blow against illegal drugs and loose firearms, netting a high-profile suspect and millions worth of contraband just before Christmas.

Massive Haul in Dulag Buy-Bust

Joint police operatives conducted a successful buy-bust operation in Barangay San Jose, Dulag, Leyte, on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. The operation, which took place around 11:27 p.m., led to the arrest of a suspect known by the alias “Danny.”

Authorities described Danny as a 40-year-old high-value individual (HVI) who is unemployed and a resident of Barangay San Isidro in the same municipality. The operation yielded a substantial cache of illegal items believed to be part of his illicit activities.

Firearms and Suspected Shabu Confiscated

The seized items have an estimated total street value of over P2 million. Alongside a large quantity of substances suspected to be shabu, police recovered an arsenal of firearms and ammunition.

The inventory from the scene included:

  • One Colt caliber .45 pistol with a magazine and seven rounds of ammunition.
  • One LLAMA caliber 9mm pistol with two magazines and four rounds.
  • One Caspian caliber 9mm pistol with two magazines.
  • Three holsters: one for a .45 caliber pistol and two for 9mm pistols.

Police Send a Strong Message

In a statement, Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8) regional director, Brigadier General Jason Capoy, emphasized the unwavering commitment of the police force. He stated that the operation proves PRO-8's relentless pursuit of illegal drugs and criminality, even during the holiday season.

"The seizure of these drugs and firearms sends a clear message to criminal syndicates that the Philippine National Police is steadfast in protecting our communities and ensuring a safe, peaceful, and secure environment for the public across Eastern Visayas," General Capoy added.

The suspect is now facing serious criminal charges for violations of:

  • Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), specifically Sections 5 (sale) and 11 (possession).
  • Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).

The operation highlights the continued vigilance of law enforcement agencies in the region against threats to public safety and order.
