PDEA Busts Lubao Drug Den: Seven Suspects Arrested in Major Drug Operation
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) conducted a successful buy-bust operation in Lubao town, Pampanga, on Wednesday, February 4, resulting in the arrest of seven individuals involved in illegal drug activities. This coordinated effort marks a significant blow to local drug trafficking networks in the region.
Details of the Arrests and Suspects
According to PDEA officials, the operation specifically targeted a 33-year-old male suspect known by the alias "Win-Win," who was allegedly operating a makeshift drug den. He was assisted by six other persons, all of whom were apprehended during the raid. The companions were identified as:
- Nel, 40 years old
- Andoy, 52 years old
- Makoy, 38 years old
- Makmak, 39 years old
- Dar, 26 years old
- Cel, 40 years old
Authorities emphasized that this group was actively engaged in the sale and distribution of dangerous drugs, posing a threat to community safety.
Evidence Seized and Estimated Value
During the operation, PDEA agents recovered five sachets containing approximately 12 grams of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride). The confiscated illegal substances have an estimated street value of P81,600, highlighting the scale of the drug trade involved. In addition to the drugs, assorted drug paraphernalia and marked buy-bust money were seized as evidence.
The confiscated items are now set to be submitted to the PDEA Region 3 laboratory for thorough forensic examination. This step is crucial for building a strong legal case against the suspects and ensuring proper chain of custody for the evidence.
Legal Charges and Collaborative Efforts
PDEA has announced that non-bailable charges will be filed against the primary suspect, "Win-Win," for violations of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 6 (Maintenance of a Den, Dive, or Resort) under Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Separate charges under the same law will be filed against the six other suspects, reflecting the seriousness of their alleged involvement.
This operation was a collaborative effort involving multiple law enforcement units, including the PDEA Pampanga Provincial Office, PDEA Region 3 Regional Special Enforcement Team, and the Lubao Municipal Police Station. Their joint action demonstrates the ongoing commitment of Philippine authorities to combat drug-related crimes and uphold public order.
The successful bust in Lubao serves as a reminder of the persistent efforts to eradicate illegal drug activities across the Philippines, with PDEA leading the charge in enforcement and prevention initiatives.
