A 62-year-old father was arrested after allegedly assaulting a 13-year-old boy who he claimed had been bullying his son in Barangay Cogon Pardo, Cebu City on Saturday, June 20, 2026.
The suspect, identified only by the alias Toper, is an e-bike driver and resident of the area. According to the investigation by the Inayawan Police Station, Toper was apprehended through a citizen's arrest and turned over to their office.
Incident Details
Reports indicate that Toper's minor son and the victim were in a computer shop with other friends on Saturday. The suspect's son was allegedly bullied by another friend, but the 13-year-old boy was blamed. This angered the victim, who then punched Toper's son, causing him to cry and report the incident to his father.
Upon learning of the altercation, Toper confronted the victim. In his anger, he struck the boy with the keys he was holding for his e-bike, causing a facial injury.
Suspect's Defense
The suspect argued that he was overwhelmed by emotion when he found his son crying and claiming to have been bullied. He added that his son had been bullied by the victim on multiple occasions. While Toper apologized for his actions, the victim's parents are determined to file a case against him.
