Police in Central Visayas have made a massive dent in the illegal drug trade this year, confiscating narcotics valued at close to one billion pesos. The Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 announced this significant achievement, highlighting a year of intensified and strategic law enforcement operations across the region.
Record-Breaking Drug Haul and Arrests
Brigadier General Redrico Maranan, the chief of PRO 7, presented the agency's accomplishments from January to November 27, 2025, during a flag-raising ceremony at Camp Sergio Osmeña Sr. in Cebu City on Monday, December 1. Maranan credited the success to well-planned, intelligence-based operations, disciplined police work, and strong support from the community.
The data revealed a staggering haul of 124.2 kilograms of suspected shabu (methamphetamine), with an estimated street value of P849,204,889.60. This contraband was seized through 7,963 separate anti-drug operations.
These operations led to the arrest of 9,267 individuals involved in the drug trade. The breakdown of those apprehended includes:
- 309 high-value targets
- 2,983 street-level individuals
- 5,975 newly identified drug personalities
In addition to shabu, authorities also confiscated other illegal substances, such as 2,612 grams of dried marijuana leaves, 14,421 marijuana plants, several marijuana sticks, 250 grams of cocaine, and 60 ecstasy tablets.
Near-Perfect Conviction Rate Strengthens Campaign
Beyond the operational successes, PRO 7 reported an exceptionally high conviction rate for drug-related cases filed in court. For cases filed between January and November 26, 2025, almost 100 percent resulted in a guilty verdict.
Maranan explained that this remarkable rate stems from meticulous case build-up and strict compliance with legal protocols. Out of 141 cases filed, 137 have led to convictions.
"Each conviction strengthens public confidence and proves that our operations are credible, disciplined, and justice-driven," Maranan stated.

The regional police chief emphasized that these achievements demonstrate the unwavering dedication, integrity, and collaborative spirit of the police force with the people of Central Visayas. The PRO 7 has vowed to further intensify its campaign against all forms of criminality and illegal drugs to ensure the safety and security of every community in the region.
