Former Special Envoy Dante Ang Passes Away

Former special envoy for international public relations Dante Ang has passed away, his family confirmed on Tuesday evening, May 5.

Family Announces Passing

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our dad, Dr. Dante A. Ang,” his daughter Joanna Ang said in a social media post. The wake will begin on Wednesday, May 6, at the Manila Memorial Park in Sucat, Parañaque City.

Donations Requested

Instead of flowers, the family requested donations to Hospicio de San Jose, one of Ang's favorite charities.

Career Highlights

Ang served as chairman emeritus of The Manila Times and was appointed special envoy for international public relations under former President Rodrigo Duterte. He also served as publicist for former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo from 1993 to 2003. In 2005, Arroyo appointed him chairman of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas, a position he held until the end of her term in 2010.

The family has not released further details regarding the cause of his death.
