Vice President Sara Duterte has criticized the attempt to serve an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa. The Vice President emphasized that a warrant from outside the country should first be presented to a local court in the Philippines.
Duterte made the statement during an interview in The Hague, Netherlands, where she is visiting her detained father, former President Rodrigo Duterte. She said the move against the senator was not right, comparing it to the previous arrest of her father before he was brought to The Hague.
It can be recalled that the ICC arrest warrant against the former president was served in March 2025, after which he was flown to The Hague following his arrest and detention at Villamor Air Base.
Meanwhile, the Vice President refused to comment on the change in Senate leadership, saying that matter is up to the senators themselves.
