Akbayan Party-list Representative Chel Diokno explained that it is important to continue impeachment proceedings despite the crises facing the country, and it should not be considered a waste of time for public servants. According to Diokno, impeachment is a vital accountability mechanism for the public to determine whether a leader is honest or not. He stressed that when a leader is unfaithful to his duty, it opens the door to corruption and abuse of power. The lawmaker further asserted that every piece of evidence must be carefully examined to hold anyone involved in abuse and corruption accountable. Diokno added that the impeachment process is important for the nation to safeguard the integrity of the government and ensure that power is not used to undermine the interests of the people.
