Former marines have denied allegations that they were bribed by former Congressman Mike Defensor to testify in the investigation into anomalous flood control projects.
Senate Hearing Testimony
During the Senate Blue Ribbon subcommittee hearing on Thursday, Johnny Buduan, one of the 18 ex-marines who appeared as a resource person, insisted that they did not receive money from former Congressman Defensor. This came after Senator Rodante Marcoleta asked whether the group had received a so-called reward of 5 million pesos each to provide their testimonies in the ongoing flood control scandal probe.
Challenge to Accusers
Buduan also challenged the accuser to appear before the subcommittee hearing to prove the allegations against them. He added that their lives would have been much better if they had indeed received such a large amount of money.
Attorney Levito Baligod also defended the former soldiers against the bribery allegations, asserting their credibility and denying any wrongdoing.
