A 53-year-old painter was arrested after allegedly stabbing his neighbor in the neck with scissors in Sityo Sampaguita, Banawa, Cebu City on Sunday afternoon, May 24, 2026.
Incident Details
Police identified the suspect as alias Pepito, who is now facing frustrated homicide charges. The victim, alias Carlo, was taken to the hospital after sustaining a stab wound to the neck.
According to the investigation by the Guadalupe Police Station, the suspect was intoxicated at the time of the incident. He allegedly attacked and stabbed Carlo using a pair of scissors.
Police responded quickly, leading to the immediate arrest of Pepito.
Suspect's Version
However, the suspect gave a different account. He claimed he was sitting by the roadside when the victim suddenly hit him with a motorcycle. Fearing for his life and having injured his knee from the collision, Pepito said he grabbed a pair of scissors from a tailor shop where he was loitering and stabbed the victim in the neck.
Pepito admitted that he intended to kill the victim at that moment because he feared being attacked first.

Police learned that this is the second time the suspect has been imprisoned for a similar stabbing offense.
