NBI Insists ICC Warrant vs Dela Rosa Remains Valid
NBI: ICC Warrant vs Dela Rosa Still Valid

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) maintains that the International Criminal Court (ICC) warrant of arrest against Senator Ronald dela Rosa remains valid, even with a pending petition before the Supreme Court to block it.

NBI Director Melvin Matibag stated that while they respect the Supreme Court, the ICC warrant is still in effect, as confirmed publicly last week. The NBI attempted to serve the warrant on May 11 but backed off after the Senate placed dela Rosa under protective custody.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said it is awaiting the Supreme Court's decision before taking action on the warrant. Dela Rosa is considered by the ICC as a co-perpetrator in former President Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs, which allegedly resulted in thousands of deaths.

Dela Rosa's camp has filed several urgent motions with the Supreme Court, including a request to stop the implementation of the ICC warrant.
