Sandiganbayan OKs Hospital Arrest for Ex-DPWH Sec. Bonoan

The Sandiganbayan has approved the request of former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel Bonoan to be placed under hospital arrest. In a resolution issued by the Fifth Division of the Sandiganbayan, Bonoan will be allowed to remain at the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital in Camp Crame, instead of The Medical City.

Reasons for Hospital Arrest

The motion filed by the former secretary's lawyer stated that due to his age and existing medical conditions, it is crucial for him to stay at the PNP General Hospital. Bonoan will remain at the hospital while his case is pending.

Background of the Case

It can be recalled that the former secretary was rushed to the hospital after a warrant of arrest was issued against him by the Sandiganbayan for plunder. Bonoan is among those facing graft and plunder charges, along with Senator Jinggoy Estrada and others, in connection with anomalies in a flood control project.
