Supreme Court Associate Justice Maria Filomena Singh has called on female police officers to stand up and be voices for women's rights while helping to change the image of the Philippine National Police (PNP). During a recent activity organized by the National Police Commission and Police Regional Office 4A, Justice Singh recognized the vital role of women in shaping and renewing law enforcement.
Call to Break Stereotypes
Justice Singh urged female police officers to dismantle the image or treatment of being weak, emotionally affected, and limited only to household tasks. She emphasized that women in the police force should be seen as strong and capable leaders.
Concerns Over Rising Rape Cases
The Supreme Court justice also highlighted the important role of women, particularly in shaping their children, and expressed concern over the alarming increase in rape cases involving minors. She praised programs aimed at combating violence against women and the strict implementation of Republic Act No. 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004.
Justice Singh challenged female police officers to fight corruption and become the face of change for the PNP's image. She encouraged them to lead by example and uphold the highest standards of integrity and service.
