Sen. Jinggoy Estrada Appeals DOJ Ruling on His Case

Senator Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada has expressed disappointment over the resolution of the Department of Justice (DOJ) regarding the cases filed against him. According to the senator, this is an "unfortunate event" and called it unjust, especially since the Senate Legislative Budget Research and Monitoring Office (LBRMO) clearly stated that there is no record of him making any insertions in the national budget for 2025. Estrada also mentioned that Senator Panfilo Lacson, chairperson of the Blue Ribbon Committee, recognized this information as a crucial part of the issues thrown against him.

As a result, on May 15, he filed an omnibus motion before the DOJ to reopen the preliminary investigation into the cases filed by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) related to flood control projects. The motion aims to include and study additional evidence that would help in a fair and objective decision on the complaints. The senator emphasized that due process and justice require the consideration of all relevant evidence and official findings before reaching a conclusion.

Nevertheless, he assured that he remains focused on facing the allegations through the proper legal process and believes that in the end, the truth supported by official records will prevail.
