Sen. Jinggoy Estrada Ready to Face Plunder Charges

Senator Jinggoy Estrada has announced that he is prepared to face the plunder and malversation charges set to be filed against him by the Office of the Ombudsman. In a statement, the senator said he will first meet with his legal team to study his legal options.

Ombudsman to Sign Resolution

Earlier, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla stated that he would sign the resolution for the filing of plunder and malversation charges against Estrada. The charges are related to alleged flood control anomalies being investigated by the Department of Justice (DOJ). The DOJ has also recommended possible charges against Senator Joel Villanueva and several former officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Political Motive Denied

When asked if the charges had political undertones, Estrada declined to give a direct answer. Despite the allegations, he insisted that he would continue to fulfill his duties in the Senate.
