High-Profile Arrest in Compostela: Top 3 Most Wanted Suspect Captured
In a significant operation, personnel from the Compostela Municipal Police Station, in collaboration with the Regional Intelligence Division (RID 7), Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), and the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO), successfully apprehended a man listed as one of the Top 3 most wanted persons in Central Visayas. The suspect, identified as Eric Oliverio Salibongcogon, 37, was also a known alleged drug pusher in the region.
The Arrest and Dramatic Confrontation
The arrest took place at around 4:30 in the afternoon on November 3, 2025, inside the suspect's residence located in Purok 5, Barangay Dap-Dap, Compostela, Cebu province. The police team was serving a warrant of arrest issued by Honorable Judge Ferdinand Rafanan, the Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court 7th Judicial Region, Branch 55 in Mandaue City. The warrant was for a violation of the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition (RA 10591), a non-bailable offense.
As the police served the warrant, the situation turned critical. Salibongcogon noticed the officers' presence and attempted to draw his KG9 machine pistol. However, the alert police personnel swiftly subdued him, placing him in a headlock and handcuffing him before he could fire the weapon.
Seized Firearms and Drug Links
Following the arrest, authorities confiscated a significant arsenal from the suspect. The recovered items included:
- A loaded KG9 machine pistol with 10 live rounds in its magazine.
- An additional magazine for the KG9, also loaded with 10 bullets.
- A .357 caliber revolver from his waist, loaded with 6 live ammunition.
According to information gathered by the Compostela police, Salibongcogon was involved in the distribution of shabu (methamphetamine). He was reportedly identified by sources as the supplier of illegal drugs in neighboring towns and cities, solidifying his status as a high-value target in the fight against narcotics in Central Visayas.
