Law enforcement authorities across Cebu province conducted a series of successful operations against illegal number games throughout November, resulting in the apprehension of 22 individuals identified as ushers for the illegal numbers game known as Swertres.

Municipal Breakdown of Arrests

The crackdown spanned several municipalities, with Dumanjug recording the highest number of arrests. Police captured seven ushers in various barangays, identified by their aliases: Leziel, Arman, Romy, Aj, Ben, Rony, and Rody.

In Barili, authorities didn't spare eight ushers operating within the municipality. The individuals, using aliases Marie, Manel, Sheila, Chia, Alma, Edmar, Donnie, and Joey, were taken into custody during the coordinated police action.

Meanwhile, Bantayan town saw three ushers fall into the hands of law enforcement. The suspects were known in their operations as Ines, Jenny, and Joseph.

Additional Arrests Across Cebu

The police net extended to other parts of the province with significant results. In Carmen, two ushers using the aliases Arnie and Ferdie were apprehended by operating officers.

A particularly concerning incident occurred in Medellin, where an usher identified as Rey required immediate medical attention after experiencing chest tightness following his arrest. Authorities promptly transported him to a healthcare facility for treatment.

Completing the November crackdown, police in Balamban arrested one usher operating under the alias Lino.

Evidence and Legal Consequences

During the arrests, law enforcement personnel confiscated numerous gambling paraphernalia and cash proceeds from the illegal gambling activities from the suspects' possession.

All apprehended individuals were confirmed to be adults, and critically, none could produce documentation authorizing their operation of the number game, leading directly to their arrest.

The suspects now face charges for violations under Republic Act 9287, the Anti-Illegal Gambling Law, as the Cebu Provincial Police continue their campaign against unauthorized gambling operations throughout the province.
