The Lapu-Lapu City Government celebrated the outstanding achievements of 35 successful board examination passers during a special recognition ceremony held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.
Financial Recognition for Professional Excellence
Mayor Ma. Cynthia "Cindi" King-Chan personally distributed P5,000 cash rewards and certificates of recognition to each of the 35 honorees at the Office of the City Mayor. The total allocation of P175,000 came from the City Council through the Board Passers Incentives Program, established under City Ordinance 14-095-2017.
During the ceremony, Mayor Chan praised the new professionals for bringing pride to Lapu-Lapu City through their remarkable accomplishments. She emphasized the city's commitment to supporting local talent and encouraged the board passers to explore employment opportunities through the Public Employment Service Office.
Diverse Professional Backgrounds Represented
According to data released by the Public Information Office, the 35 board passers represented a wide spectrum of professions:
- 16 criminologists
- 9 psychometricians
- 3 teachers
- 1 electrical engineer
- 1 master plumber
- 1 dentist
- 1 social worker
- 1 chemical engineer
- 1 mechanical engineer
- 1 civil engineer
Citywide Representation of Talent
The honored professionals came from various communities across Lapu-Lapu City, demonstrating the widespread distribution of academic excellence throughout the area. Representatives hailed from 13 mainland barangays including Gun-ob, Pusok, Basak, Canjulao, Looc, Calawisan, Mactan, Marigondon, Subabasbas, Ibo, Pajac, Agus, and Babag.
The recognition also extended to island communities, with honorees coming from Barangay Sta. Rosa on Olango Island and the nearby Caubian islet.
Accessing the Incentive Program
The Board Passers Incentives Program continues to be available to eligible Lapu-Lapu City residents who successfully pass professional licensure examinations. Qualified individuals can claim their P5,000 cash incentive by submitting three key documents:
- Barangay Residency Certificate
- Certification of Passing from the Professional Regulation Commission
- Request letter addressed to the mayor
The program also provides for special or higher cash rewards for board topnotchers, further encouraging academic excellence among the city's residents.
