The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has significantly strengthened its operational capabilities with the addition of 80 newly sworn police officers. The new personnel, who officially joined the force on Saturday, January 3, 2026, were formally received by Police Colonel George Ylanan, the Chief of the CCPO.
Formal Turnover and Initial Assignment
The fresh graduates, collectively known as Batch "Legions," were turned over to the city police force by the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7). Colonel Ylanan presided over the ceremony, marking the formal integration of the new officers into the local security framework. Their initial deployment will be to the City Mobile Force Company (CMFC), after which they will be strategically distributed across the 13 police stations throughout Cebu City.
Strategic Boost for Public Safety and Sinulog
According to Police Colonel Ylanan, this major deployment is a strategic move to enhance the CCPO's overall capabilities. The influx of personnel is expected to significantly improve the police force's effectiveness in several critical areas. Crowd control during large public gatherings, support for public activities, general police operations, and disaster response protocols will all benefit from the added manpower.
This reinforcement is particularly timely and crucial for the upcoming Sinulog Festival, one of the country's largest and most attended cultural and religious events. The additional officers will be instrumental in ensuring the safety and security of the millions of devotees and tourists expected to participate in the festivities.
Temporary Deployment and Future Training
The assignment of Batch "Legions" to the CCPO is part of a phased training and deployment program. After completing their designated period of service with the city police, the officers will return to the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 7 for the next phase of their advanced training. This cycle ensures that officers gain practical field experience while continuing their professional development within the broader regional police structure.
