Borbon OKs P80M Fund for Quake, Typhoon Recovery
Borbon Approves P80M Disaster Recovery Fund

The local government of Borbon is set to formally utilize more than P80 million in financial aid for its recovery programs after the area was struck by a powerful 6.9-magnitude earthquake and Typhoon Tino.

Ordinance Ensures Transfund Use

On Wednesday, November 26, 2025, the Municipal Council of Borbon gave its official approval to an ordinance that authorizes the spending of the substantial financial assistance. The funds were received from various sources, including national agencies, other local government units, and private donors.

Vice Mayor Brino Sepulveda publicly announced this development by sharing copies of the approved ordinance on his Facebook account. The legislative measure is a crucial step, as it provides the legal framework for the orderly, transparent, and lawful disbursement of the funds, ensuring compliance with all government budgeting, accounting, and auditing regulations.

Next Steps and Fund Allocation

With the ordinance now in place, the next phase of the process depends on the municipal mayor. Vice Mayor Sepulveda stated, “Let’s wait for the Municipal Mayor for the implementation and proper disbursement of the National and Local Government Financial Assistance Programs.”

The ordinance specifies that the over P80 million in aid is designated for critical areas such as immediate disaster response, the rehabilitation of communities devastated by the earthquake, and providing direct support to affected families and neighboring LGUs. Official copies of the ordinance have been submitted to the Cebu Sangguniang Panlalawigan Secretariat for record-keeping and oversight.
