The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) concluded a highly successful month-long anti-drug campaign in December 2025, resulting in the confiscation of illegal drugs with an estimated street value of P20 million and the arrest of 245 suspects.
Massive Haul and Arrests in Holiday Crackdown
From December 1 to 31, 2025, police operatives across Cebu City conducted a series of intensified operations. The drive, personally overseen by Police Colonel George Ylanan, the Chief of the CCPO, was specifically bolstered to address potential increased drug activity during the Christmas and New Year holiday season. The results were staggering, with the total value of seized narcotics, primarily shabu, reaching nearly P20 million.
Breakdown of Apprehended Suspects
Of the 245 individuals taken into custody, police intelligence identified 23 as high-value individuals (HVIs). These HVIs are typically considered major players within the drug trade network. The remaining 222 suspects were classified as street-level individuals, a group comprising both low-level drug pushers and users.
Weapons and Contraband Recovered
Beyond the massive drug haul, which included over P19 million worth of shabu, the police operations yielded additional dangerous contraband. Authorities successfully confiscated four firearms during the arrests, highlighting the often-violent nature of the illegal drug trade and removing potential tools for further crime from the streets.
The December crackdown underscores the CCPO's continued and focused strategy to dismantle drug distribution channels in the city. By targeting both high-level sources and street-level distribution, the campaign aims to create a significant impact on the local drug supply and improve community safety.
