Davao City Honors 24 Centenarians in 2025 with P100K Cash Gifts
Davao Awards 24 Centenarians with Cash, Plaques

The City Government of Davao has formally recognized two dozen of its eldest residents this year, bestowing cash gifts and plaques of appreciation upon them. This heartfelt initiative is a direct implementation of a local ordinance designed to honor those who have reached the remarkable age of 100.

Celebrating a Century of Life

Through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), the local government provided P100,000 in cash to each of the 24 Dabawenyo centenarians honored for 2025. Alongside the financial gift, the recipients received a plaque of recognition and a package of essential goods including milk, diapers, and soap.

The distribution for the year culminated with a final batch in late November. On November 28, 2025, the CSWDO team successfully delivered the incentives to the last six centenarians on their list. This fourth and final batch for the year included residents from Toril B district, Talomo A District, Tugbok District, and City Poblacion-A District.

Legal Foundation for Honoring Elders

This annual tribute is mandated by City Ordinance No. 0727-21, series of 2021, officially titled "An Order Honoring Centenarians in the City of Davao." The law explicitly states that the cash gift is a form of recognition and honor for centenarians who have achieved a monumental life milestone.

The ordinance acknowledges that these individuals have lived through decades of history and have undoubtedly created lasting legacies for their families, communities, and all the people whose lives they have touched over the years.

How Families Can Apply for the Benefit

The CSWDO, in coordination with the Office of the Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA), continues to remind the public about this benefit. They encourage families in Davao with relatives who are about to turn 100 years old to proactively process the necessary requirements.

It is crucial to complete the application process before the elderly individual's 100th birthday to ensure they receive their well-deserved recognition and incentive. This program stands as a testament to Davao City's commitment to valuing and caring for its senior citizens, celebrating their longevity and contributions to society.
