To ensure faster aid reaches its residents, the City Government of Davao is significantly expanding its frontline disaster response team. The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) has announced an active recruitment drive to fill dozens of new positions.
Major Expansion Across Key Emergency Services
According to CDRRMO Head Alfredo Baloran, the office needs to immediately fill 20 new slots for the Emergency Medical Service (EMS). This addition will bolster an existing force of more than 100 EMS personnel who currently manage a demanding 24/7 operation on a three-shift system.
Baloran explained that the need for more responders is driven by the expansion of the city's emergency infrastructure. "We need additional personnel because we have added satellite stations," he stated on Monday, January 6, 2026. The city now operates a total of five satellite stations, including the recently opened Toril station and the relocated Baganihan station from Marilog.
Open Positions and Basic Qualifications
The hiring initiative is not limited to medical responders. The CDRRMO is also looking to fill:
- 20 positions for the Fire Auxiliary Service.
- 15 positions for the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team.
This brings the total number of new emergency response personnel (ERP) being sought to 55 individuals. Baloran outlined the primary qualifications for these critical roles. Applicants must be:
- At least Senior High School graduates.
- Physically fit and capable of enduring the rigorous six-month training program.
Additional Roles and How to Apply
Beyond the ERP hiring, the CDRRMO is also tasked with recruiting drivers for additional mobile patrol cars. These vehicles were provided by the local government to the Davao City Police Office, further highlighting the integrated approach to public safety.
