A 27-year-old man was shot and killed in a brazen daylight attack near a village hall in Zamboanga City, police authorities reported on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

Details of the Fatal Attack

The Zamboanga City Police Station 11 (ZCPS11) identified the victim as Mike Ali Manduyan, a resident of Lakian Compound in San Jose Gusu village. The incident occurred at approximately 11:55 a.m. on Tuesday in the vicinity of the barangay hall of Kampung Islam village.

According to the initial police investigation, bystanders in the area reported hearing multiple gunshots. When they checked the source of the commotion, they discovered Manduyan already lying on the ground.

Evidence Recovered from the Crime Scene

Police officers who responded to the scene conducted a thorough search and recovered several pieces of crucial evidence. The items collected include:

  • Ten empty shells from a .45 caliber pistol.
  • Two fired bullets and one fired bullet jacket, also of .45 caliber.
  • A cellular phone belonging to the victim.
  • Two lighters.
  • A small, heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing a substance suspected to be shabu (methamphetamine).
  • Various pieces of illegal drug paraphernalia.

The recovery of the suspected drugs and related items has added a significant dimension to the ongoing probe.
