Lamitan City's P1.5M 'Christmas Odyssey' Village Lights Up 2025 Season
Lamitan's Christmas Village Opens with P1.5M Budget

The City Government of Lamitan officially ushered in the 2025 holiday season with a spectacular ceremony, lighting up its one-of-a-kind Christmas Village on the evening of Monday, December 1.

A Magical Journey Begins

Mayor Roderick Furigay led the festive countdown at 7 p.m. on the City Hall grounds in Maganda village, culminating in the illumination of the sprawling attraction. The event marks the formal start of the annual yuletide celebrations for Lamiteños. In his address, Mayor Furigay emphasized that the lighting ceremony was more than a simple switch-on, calling it "the start of a magical journey that will bring our entire community together."

Themes and Unique Features

Dubbed "Christmas Odyssey," the village is divided into five immersive zones: Winter Wonderland, Fantasy Land, Desert Land, Happy Land, and Fun Land. Visitors are greeted at the entrance by a towering 35-foot-tall Christmas Tree. The landscape is adorned with giant designs, including:

  • Snowman
  • Christmas Gift
  • Christmas Stars
  • Pyramid
  • Tunnel of Lights

All structures are decorated with vibrant LED Christmas lights, creating a dazzling display.

Sustainability and Community Engagement

A standout feature is an innovative Igloo design constructed from expired Personal Protection Equipment (PPEs) that went unused during the Covid-19 pandemic. The igloo is equipped with a snowflake machine to simulate a snowy environment, making it a popular photo spot. Engineer Raquel Hibionada, chief of the City General Services Office, oversaw the installation. "We've put our hearts into creating something special—every light and decoration tells a story," Hibionada stated.

The city government allocated approximately P1.5 million for the project, with many materials being recycled to promote sustainability. To encourage nightly visits, the city is holding raffle draws with grand prizes that include:

  1. 10 house and lot packages
  2. Various appliances
  3. Other household items

This initiative aims to foster community spirit and provide joy to residents throughout the holiday season.
