Lapu-Lapu City marked its 65th Charter Day with a colorful parade that recognized the hard work and dedication of City Hall and barangay employees. The celebration, held at the City Hall Grounds, carried the theme “Celebrating 65 Years of Service and Progress: Empowered by People, United in Purpose.”
Mayor and Vice Mayor Lead Recognition
Mayor Cindi King-Chan, together with Vice Mayor Celedonio Sitoy, led the recognition of employees who have been the backbone of the historic resort city’s development. Loyalty awardees and retirees were honored for their faithful service.
“Our greatest strength has always been, and will always be, our people. As we proudly declare that we are One Lapu-Lapu and 65 years strong, may we also reaffirm our commitment to one city, one purpose, and one vision of a better future for Lapu-Lapu City,” Mayor Chan said.
Barangay Awards and Financial Assistance
In addition to employees, barangays that demonstrated good governance were also recognized. The Office of the President distributed PHP 200,000 in financial assistance to each barangay in the city to support their local projects.

The celebration was attended by barangay officials, the Department of Education (DepEd), judges, prosecutors, and various uniformed services including the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
