Lapu-Lapu Suspends Classes for Patronal Fiesta 2025

In celebration of the 290th Patronal Fiesta of Nuestra Señora de Regla, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Ma. Cynthia "Cindi" Chan has issued Executive Order No. 65, suspending classes in all public schools and work in city government offices this Thursday, November 20, 2025.

Safety Measures for Festival Crowds

The suspension aims to prevent congestion and ensure the safety of devotees expected to flock to the Virgen de Regla National Shrine in Barangay Poblacion during the evening activities. The city government is prioritizing public safety during this significant religious celebration that will run from November 20 to 21.

Adjustments for Educational Institutions

Suspended classes will be rescheduled to meet the requirements of both the Department of Education (DepEd) and Commission on Higher Education (Ched). Private schools have the discretion to decide whether to suspend their classes or continue with regular operations based on their assessment of the situation.

Continuation of Essential Services

While general government operations are suspended, frontline services including the Mayor's Office, Treasurer's Office, and Business One Stop Shop will remain operational with skeletal staff. Critical services such as disaster response, traffic management, garbage collection, and hospital operations will continue without interruption.

Private businesses and national government offices in Lapu-Lapu City may adjust their work schedules according to management discretion. Residents are encouraged to prepare for the festivities that will transform the city during this two-day celebration honoring their patron saint.
