Mandaue City Boosts Traffic Force with 40+ New Enforcers to Curb Violations
Mandaue Deploys 40+ New Traffic Enforcers

The Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (Team) is significantly bolstering its presence on the city's streets with the addition of more than 40 freshly trained personnel. This expansion aims to enhance traffic management and the apprehension of violators across Mandaue.

Addressing the Critical Shortage

Team department head Hyll Retuya confirmed that the new hires are a direct response to a shortage of traffic enforcers, particularly in critical areas. "At present, we have trained more than 40 new personnel," Retuya stated. He explained that they will augment the existing workforce to better handle both traffic flow and law enforcement on major roads.

Retuya emphasized that Team's duties extend beyond simple traffic control to include enforcing laws and maintaining order. With the need for constant coverage in key locations through shifting schedules, the agency required more boots on the ground, in addition to its mobile and roving units.

Comprehensive Training and Deployment

The new recruits recently completed a rigorous, three-day comprehensive training program designed to prepare them for field operations. Retuya detailed that the training included various modules, pre-tests, post-tests, and practical exercises to ensure a clear understanding of a traffic enforcer's responsibilities.

"After completing the training, they will be deployed to the field so they can further develop their skills," he said. Retuya noted that only those who successfully pass the training are cleared for deployment. While a few may handle administrative tasks, the majority will be assigned to field duties where the need is greatest. New enforcers will also be paired with experienced personnel for on-the-job guidance.

Enhanced Capacity and Government Support

With this batch of new hires, Team's total manpower is set to increase from over 400 to nearly 500 personnel. Retuya expressed confidence that this strengthened force will allow the city to more effectively address the growing number of traffic violations. "With this number, we can better respond to traffic violations because we know that there are many violators," he added.

Retuya also acknowledged the support from the Mandaue City Government under Mayor Thadeo Jovito 'Jonkie' Ouano, calling the provision of additional personnel a "huge help." Beyond initial training, Team personnel undergo special sessions coordinated with the Land Transportation Office and orientations on local traffic ordinances to ensure up-to-date knowledge and procedures.
