A Ceremony of Partnership and Progress
The formal turnover ceremony took place on December 18, 2025. The event was led by Colonel Gilber Gorero, the chief regional staff of PRO-NIR, who represented Regional Director Brigadier General Thomas Ibay. They were joined by key officials including Colonel Sandy Vales, chief of the Regional Logistics and Research and Development Division (RLRDD); Lieutenant Colonel Karen Bancoleta from PRO-7's RLRDD; Colonel Criscente Tiguelo, director of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (Norppo); Major Vann Joel Tingson of the Bacong Municipal Police Station; and Bacong Mayor Lenin Alviola.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, chief of the PRO-NIR Public Information Office, the ceremony signified the station's full operational readiness. The new facility is poised to enhance effective law enforcement, increase police visibility, and provide faster, more accessible services to the public in Bacong.
Symbol of Collaboration and Commitment
In a message delivered by Colonel Gorero, Brigadier General Ibay hailed the inauguration as a milestone for the Bacong police force. He emphasized that the project was realized through the strong collaboration and unwavering support of the Bacong Local Government Unit (LGU) under Mayor Alviola.
"The newly completed building stands as a tangible product of the strong collaboration and unwavering support of the local government unit of Bacong," Ibay stated. He expressed profound gratitude for Mayor Alviola's generosity, which played a vital role in the project's completion.
Ibay stressed that the modern and conducive facility would inspire the police personnel to exceed expectations, maintain preparedness, and implement proactive security measures. He assured the community that the Philippine National Police (PNP) remains committed to working relentlessly with the LGU to make Bacong a safer and more peaceful municipality.
Enhanced Service for the Community
Prior to the official handover, the police station building was blessed in a ceremony, underscoring its dedication to public service, safety, and professionalism. This infrastructure initiative is a core part of PRO-NIR's modernization thrust and people-centered policing approach.
The regional command reiterated its commitment to strengthening partnerships with LGUs across the Negros Island Region. This project exemplifies how sustained coordination and shared responsibility between police and local governments can advance peace and order at the grassroots level, directly benefiting residents with improved security and response services.
