In a significant blow to the local drug trade, operatives from the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) confiscated a substantial quantity of suspected shabu valued at over two million pesos and apprehended two alleged high-value individuals in a targeted buy-bust operation.

Major Drug Bust in Barangay Cabug

The successful police action unfolded on Monday, December 1, 2025, within a subdivision located in Barangay Cabug. According to Colonel Joeresty Coronica, the director of BCPO, personnel from the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) conducted the operation after one of the suspects sold a sachet of the illegal substance to an undercover police officer.

Authorities identified the arrested individuals as alias "Niño," 23, and alias "Stephen," 21. Both men are reported to be residents of Barangay Handumanan. Following the transaction, police immediately moved in to arrest the duo.

Recovered Evidence and Suspect Profiles

From the suspects' possession, law enforcers recovered several plastic sachets containing the crystalline substance believed to be shabu. The total weight of the confiscated drugs was approximately 300 grams, with an estimated street value of P2.040 million. The marked money used in the buy-bust operation was also successfully retrieved.

Colonel Coronica revealed that the two men were classified as high-value drug personalities within Bacolod City. Police intelligence had been monitoring their activities for nearly a month prior to the arrest. The suspects had reportedly been the subject of complaints via the emergency hotline 911 for alleged drug-related activities in Purok Saturn, Barangay Handumanan.

"They were renting a house so they can operate in different areas in the city," Coronica added, highlighting the mobile nature of their alleged illegal enterprise.

Ongoing Investigation and Charges

The BCPO director emphasized that a thorough investigation is now underway to identify and locate the source of the illegal drugs. Determining the suspects' supplier is a critical next step for the police force.

Colonel Coronica commended the CDEU operatives for their accomplishment, describing the operation as a significant breakthrough in Bacolod's relentless campaign against illegal drugs. The BCPO reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to eradicating narcotics and ensuring community safety through sustained, intelligence-driven operations.

The two arrested suspects are currently detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 10. They are set to face serious charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
