A 23-year-old unemployed woman found herself behind bars after allegedly stealing a customer's bag at a popular bar in Cebu City on Sunday, November 16, 2025.
Bar Robbery in Broad Daylight
The incident occurred at an establishment located along Salinas Drive in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City. According to police investigation, the suspect identified only as Sassa, a 23-year-old resident of Barangay Cansojong, Talisay City, approached the victim's table while the young woman was enjoying time with friends.
The victim, a 19-year-old known only as Mae, was caught by surprise when the suspect suddenly grabbed her bag from their table. The brazen theft happened while the group was relaxing and socializing at the bar.
Quick Response Leads to Arrest
Fortunately, the victim immediately noticed the theft and promptly called for help. The quick response resulted in the suspect being apprehended before she could escape from the scene.
Inside the stolen bag were valuable items including an expensive mobile phone, a wallet containing cash, and other personal belongings that the victim had brought with her for the evening out.
Repeat Offender Reveals Modus Operandi
During police interrogation, the suspect made a surprising confession. Sassa claimed she was only following orders from an associate to obtain money. She further revealed that she typically targets foreign tourists but felt compelled to commit this particular theft due to pressure from her companion.
This isn't the first time the suspect has faced legal trouble for such offenses. Police records confirm that Sassa has previously been imprisoned for similar crimes, making this latest incident a case of repeat offense.
The Mabolo Police Station is currently detaining the suspect while awaiting the filing of formal charges. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine if there are other individuals involved in the criminal operation.
