In a significant blow to the illegal drug trade, the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6) announced the arrest of 152 individuals and the confiscation of a massive haul of narcotics during a sustained month-long campaign across the region in November 2025.
Massive Haul and Arrests in Coordinated Operations
Under the leadership of Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, PRO 6 personnel conducted 115 separate anti-drug operations from November 1 to 30, 2025. These coordinated, intelligence-driven efforts resulted in the seizure of an estimated 8,450.14 grams of suspected shabu and 33 grams of suspected marijuana. The operations were executed regionwide using various methods, including buy-busts and the service of search warrants, with support from other agencies and community informants.
Breakdown of Accomplishments by Unit
The crackdown saw significant contributions from various police units under PRO 6. The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) led the tally with the largest volume of seized drugs at 4,302.14 grams of suspected shabu and 63 arrests. The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) followed, accounting for 2,056 grams of suspected shabu, 25 grams of suspected marijuana, and 59 arrests. Meanwhile, the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) in Western Visayas seized 1,860 grams of suspected shabu and made 8 arrests.
Authorities classified the apprehended suspects, identifying 45 as high-value individuals (HVIs) and 107 as street-value individuals (SVIs). All arrested individuals are now facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Leadership Commends Personnel, Calls for Community Vigilance
Brig. Gen. Ligan hailed the results as a testament to the sustained and unwavering commitment of PRO 6 personnel. He emphasized that the accomplishment reflects their dedication to protecting communities from the scourge of illegal drugs. "We remain steadfast in our mission and will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and welfare of the people in Western Visayas," Ligan stated.
Highlighting the critical role of public cooperation, Ligan urged local government units, barangay officials, and residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement. He stressed that community involvement remains a key element in successfully curbing drug operations and dismantling distribution networks across the region.
