A synchronized police operation across Eastern Visayas on May 1, 2026, resulted in the apprehension of four of the region's most wanted individuals within a single day.
Police Commitment to Justice
Brigadier General Jayson Capoy, regional director of Police Regional Office 8, emphasized the relentless pursuit of fugitives. 'Police Regional Office 8 will continue to pursue wanted persons relentlessly to ensure that justice is served and that the safety of our communities is upheld,' he stated, assuring the public of ongoing proactive law enforcement operations. He commended the operating units for their successful arrests, noting that the achievement 'reflects the intensified campaign against wanted persons in the region.'
Arrests Across the Region
In Biliran province, authorities arrested alias 'Owen,' a 54-year-old construction foreman and resident of Naval, Biliran. He faces charges including frustrated murder, multiple murder, multiple attempted murder, multiple frustrated murder, robbery with homicide, and destructive arson.
In Barugo, Leyte, a 52-year-old driver identified only as 'Gado' was taken into custody for statutory rape, attempted statutory rape, and two counts of acts of lasciviousness.
Tacloban City police apprehended alias 'Mak,' a 48-year-old construction worker, on six counts of rape by sexual assault in relation to Republic Act 7610, the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
Meanwhile, in Calbayog City, alias 'Carlo,' a 45-year-old farmer, was arrested for murder, kidnapping, and serious illegal detention.
Legal Proceedings
All four suspects are currently in police custody and will be turned over to the issuing courts for further legal proceedings, as confirmed by the police regional command.
