400+ Need Medical Help at Manila, QC Protests

The Philippine Red Cross provided crucial medical support to hundreds of participants during recent protest actions in Metro Manila, with over 400 individuals requiring assistance across two major demonstration sites.

Medical Response at Quirino Grandstand

Following the conclusion of the Iglesia Ni Cristo's 'Rally for Transparency and a Better Democracy' at Quirino Grandstand in Manila, the Philippine Red Cross reported on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, that they had assisted 242 individuals with medical needs.

According to the PRC statement, most participants presented with minor medical issues or required routine vital signs monitoring. The protest organized by the religious group took place from November 16 to 17, 2025, drawing significant crowds to the historic Manila venue.

Simultaneous Protests at Edsa Shrine

Meanwhile, at the Edsa Shrine in Quezon City, the Philippine Red Cross reported assisting an additional 160 people during the first two days of mass gatherings organized by the United People's Initiative.

The medical cases at Edsa Shrine included seven minor cases and three major cases, though specific details about the nature of these medical emergencies were not disclosed. These protests ran from November 16 to 18, 2025, overlapping with the Manila demonstrations.

Red Cross Deployment and Preparedness

In anticipation of the simultaneous rallies across Metro Manila, the Philippine Red Cross in the National Capital Region had previously activated high alert status. The humanitarian organization deployed substantial resources to ensure participant safety.

The medical deployment included nine ambulance units, six first aid stations, two welfare desks, and 47 staff and volunteers strategically positioned across both protest venues. This comprehensive preparation enabled the efficient handling of the hundreds of medical requests during the multi-day events.

The coordinated response demonstrated the importance of medical readiness during large public gatherings, particularly in urban centers like Manila where mass protests can quickly strain local healthcare resources.
