Cavite 4th District Representative Francisco “Kiko” Barzaga has stated that he is not concerned about the possibility of expulsion from Congress, even as he faces multiple ethics complaints. Returning to the plenary session after his suspension, Barzaga expressed his readiness to face any consequences and believes that other opportunities await him even if he loses his seat.
Barzaga’s Stance on Suspension and Ethics Complaints
Barzaga was previously suspended due to disorderly behavior related to his online posts. He clarified that he did not attend the ethics hearings because he believes the outcome would not change regardless of his presence. The lawmaker emphasized that if he were to be expelled, it would only further prove what he alleges is corruption within Congress.
Focus on Fuel Crisis and VAT Removal
Despite the ongoing issues, Barzaga hopes that no further suspensions will be imposed on him. He intends to focus on addressing the fuel crisis and pushing for the removal of the value-added tax (VAT) on certain goods. He believes these issues are more pressing for the public and require immediate legislative attention.
Opposition to VP Sara Duterte’s Impeachment
Barzaga also expressed his opposition to the impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte. He argued that the impeachment lacks new grounds and only wastes government funds. According to Barzaga, such moves are politically motivated and do not serve the best interests of the Filipino people.
As the situation unfolds, Barzaga remains steadfast in his position, ready to face any challenges that come his way while continuing to advocate for what he believes are important national issues.
