Bishop Oriel Ballano shared details of his visit to the Senate on Tuesday, May 19, where he and companions prayed for several senators. In a social media post, Ballano said they went to the Senate House to visit and pray for Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano, former Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada, and Senator Mark Villar, who chairs the Senate Committee on Finance.
Prayers for Healing and Unity
“At the Senate House just to visit and prayed for our SP Alan Peter Cayetano,” Ballano wrote. The bishop was accompanied by Pastors Dave Galido, Fred DeChaves, and Ike Serapio. He stated that the visit aimed to pray for the nation’s healing and unity. “Lord heal our land as we humbled ourselves and prayed,” he added.
Online Reactions
The post drew mixed reactions online, with some netizens supporting the call for prayers for the country’s leaders. Cayetano was elected Senate President on May 11 after securing a majority vote in plenary, replacing former Senate President Tito Sotto III, who is now Minority Leader. Meanwhile, Estrada continues to face graft and plunder cases.
