Comelec: 8 Votes Per Voter in Barmm Elections

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, that each voter in the September 2026 Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE) will be required to cast a total of eight votes.

Breakdown of Votes

According to Comelec Chairman George Garcia, voters will cast one vote for a Regional Parliamentary Political Party (RPPP). Additionally, each voter will select one candidate for Parliamentary District Representative for their respective area.

Sectoral Organization Votes

Garcia further explained that Barmm voters will also choose six nominees from Parliamentary Sectoral Organizations (PSOs). These include two representatives for Settler Communities, one for Women, one for Youth, one for Traditional Leaders, and one for Ulama.

Voter Registration Numbers

The poll body reported that nearly 2.4 million registered voters are expected to participate in the upcoming September 14 polls. Based on Minute Resolution 26-0346, the Comelec confirmed a total of 2,393,530 registered voters for the election.

These voters will come from 2,185 barangays across 108 cities and municipalities within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm).

Polling Centers

A total of 5,212 clustered precincts will operate in 1,186 voting centers to accommodate the voters.
