Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano announced that Senators Rodante Marcoleta and Pia Cayetano are among those being considered to lead the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee (BRC). According to Cayetano, the committee will not only focus on the alleged irregularities in flood control projects but also on the events surrounding the shooting incident at the Senate and the role of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in the matter.
No Final Decision Yet
Cayetano explained that no final decision has been made on who will chair the committee, as the new majority bloc agreed that no senator would automatically demand a specific committee. Instead, assignments will be discussed collectively.
Pressure on Senate President
Meanwhile, Cayetano admitted to intense pressure in maintaining his position as Senate President over the past weeks. However, he said that with God's help, he managed to retain support for his leadership. He also mentioned attempts to alter the balance of power in the Senate, alongside issues concerning committees and other political matters.
