Peaceful Trillion Peso March in Cebu Draws Thousands

The Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO 7) has officially described the recent Trillion Peso March in Cebu as orderly and peaceful. The large-scale protest activity, held to mark the birth anniversary of national hero Gat Andres Bonifacio, took place on Sunday, November 30, 2025.

Massive Police Deployment Ensures Peace and Order

According to Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan, the chief of PRO 7, authorities deployed a significant security force to maintain peace. More than two thousand police personnel were strategically positioned to oversee the protest march. The event was organized by various societal sectors and led by the Catholic Church in Cebu.

Contrasting Crowd Estimates Emerge

Official police estimates placed the number of participants between 4,000 and 5,000. However, a different figure was presented by Dave Tumulak, Chairman of the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council. Tumulak stated that based on analysis of drone video footage, the actual turnout was much larger, ranging from 8,000 to 10,000 individuals.

A Flawless Security Record

Despite the large gathering, the event concluded without any major issues. General Maranan, in a statement on Monday, December 1, highlighted the successful security outcome. He reported "Zero incident... no untoward incident at even a single case of theft" related to the protest. Furthermore, he confirmed that none of the eight focus crimes occurred in the areas where the march took place.

In his remarks, General Maranan expressed gratitude to all participants and the event organizers. He specifically thanked them for their cooperation and for ensuring the activity remained peaceful, without any disturbances often associated with progressive groups.
