PRO-NIR Boosts Police Visibility for a Safe Negros Christmas
Police Heighten Visibility for Negros Yuletide Season

The Police Regional Office in Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) has ramped up its security measures for the holiday period, deploying more officers to ensure peace and order across the island.

Enhanced Security Measures Across the Island

Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, the chief of the PRO-NIR Public Information Office, detailed the enhanced operations. She stated that the initiative focuses on intensified police patrols, the establishment of strategic checkpoints, and tighter coordination with local government units, barangay officials, and community force multipliers.

Malong directly appealed to both residents and visitors to practice basic safety to contribute to a secure celebration of Christmas and the New Year. Her advice included securing homes and valuables, staying alert in crowded places like malls, markets, churches, and transport terminals, and strictly obeying traffic laws, with a specific warning against drunk driving.

Public Cooperation is Key to Safety

The police also issued reminders regarding local ordinances on firecrackers and pyrotechnics. They urged the public to observe fire safety at home and to supervise children closely to prevent holiday-related accidents and injuries.

Brigadier General Arnold Thomas Ibay, the PRO-NIR director, underscored the critical role of community cooperation. "As we celebrate the Yuletide season, we call on everyone to stay alert, responsible, and cooperative," Ibay said. He emphasized that public safety is a shared responsibility, and with active community participation, a peaceful and joyful holiday for all Negrenses can be achieved.

How the Public Can Help

General Ibay encouraged citizens to be the eyes and ears of the police. He asked the public to immediately report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through local hotlines.

The PRO-NIR concluded its announcement by assuring the public of its full commitment to safeguarding lives and property and maintaining peace and order throughout the entire Yuletide season. These measures, announced on December 19, 2025, are part of a comprehensive plan to foster a safe environment for celebration.
