Sen. Lapid Denies Moving to Majority Bloc

Senator Lito Lapid has denied circulating rumors that he is moving to the Senate majority bloc, following his failure to support Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri's motion to remove from the Senate records an alleged “propaganda video” by Senator Imee Marcos, which is related to the supposed planned “Charter Change.”

“Just for clarity. It’s a manifestation. Regarding what happened yesterday, there are many rumors on social media that I have moved to the majority. That is not true,” Lapid said. “I remain in the minority group and I will not leave here,” he declared.

During the Senate plenary session on Tuesday, May 26, Lapid stated that he will stay in the minority bloc and that the speculations are baseless. According to Lapid, he supported the motion but did not speak at the right time because he thought there would be a vote.
