A 28-year-old man known by the alias "Spiderman" was arrested on Thursday afternoon, July 9, 2026, after a dramatic rooftop chase in Sityo Torre, Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City. The suspect, a single painter, is now detained at the Inayawan Police Station while charges are being prepared.
Panic triggered by father's warning
According to the suspect's account to SuperBalita Cebu, he was on the upper part of his house watching video reels on his cellphone when his father suddenly shouted from outside that there was a "raid." Panicked and disoriented, Spiderman immediately climbed onto the roof and lost control of his actions.
"I jumped across 20 rooftops of our neighbors' houses. They threw stones at me until I fell, got injured, and was caught by the police," Spiderman recounted. He explained that his fear stemmed from previous police raids in the neighborhood that led to the arrest of some of his neighbors.
Inspiration from Coco Martin
Beyond his panic, Spiderman revealed a surprising reason for his rooftop escapade. He said he was inspired by his favorite actor, Coco Martin, from the action series "Ang Probinsyano." During the chase, he believed he was being cast as an extra in the show and thought that if he had not been arrested, he would have become the lead actor, replacing Martin.
Message of regret
After regaining his senses in his cell, Spiderman left a message for others. "To those who are still using drugs, I advise you to stop. And to those still involved in illegal activities, just surrender," he concluded.
