Malacañang has urged Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa to come forward and face the cases filed against him. This was emphasized by the Palace, echoing previous statements made by Senator Robin Padilla.
Palace Press Briefing
During a press briefing on Monday, Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro stated that as a former chief of the national police, dela Rosa should be aware that the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued a valid warrant of arrest. If he is innocent, he should come out and face the charges.
Warning Against Escape
The Palace official also warned that if dela Rosa attempts to flee the country, he will be arrested based on the Department of Justice's authority. According to Undersecretary Castro, the President and the administration respect the pending case before the Supreme Court, but the senator does not need to escape the country.
Dela Rosa is currently on the ICC's wanted list for crimes against humanity related to the Duterte administration's drug war.
