Cebu Deploys 325 New Medical Staff to 10 Hospitals, Boosts Healthcare
325 New Medical Personnel Deployed in Cebu Hospitals

The Cebu Provincial Government has launched a major healthcare reinforcement, deploying 325 newly hired medical and non-medical personnel across ten of its Capitol-run hospitals. This significant move, announced on January 3, 2026, aims to tackle chronic staffing shortages and elevate the quality of healthcare services for residents throughout the province.

Major Boost for Provincial Hospitals

The largest contingents of new staff were assigned to three key facilities. Cebu Provincial Hospital (CPH) in Danao received 50 personnel, Bantayan District Hospital welcomed 48, and Tuburan District Hospital got 45 new hires. The deployment extended to seven other hospitals to ensure a wide impact.

The other beneficiary hospitals and their number of new staff are:

  • Ricardo L. Maningo Memorial Hospital (Camotes): 33
  • Barili District Hospital: 33
  • Isidro C. Kintanar Memorial Hospital (Argao): 28
  • Oslob District Hospital: 28
  • Juan B. Dosado Memorial Hospital (Sogod): 24
  • M.J. Cuenco Memorial Hospital (Malabuyoc): 22
  • Minglanilla District Hospital: 14

Detailed Breakdown of New Hires

The new personnel encompass a wide range of critical roles designed to strengthen hospital operations from top to bottom. The detailed assignment includes doctors, nurses, medical technologists, pharmacists, clerks, and housekeeping staff.

For instance, CPH-Danao's 50 new staff consist of 12 doctors, 23 nurses, four medical technologists, six clerks, and five housekeeping staff. Bantayan District Hospital added three doctors, 14 nurses, and various support staff. This strategic mix is set to reduce patient backlogs, strengthen emergency care, and improve access to specialized services, particularly in towns historically burdened by limited healthcare resources.

Fulfilling a Promise for Better Healthcare

This large-scale hiring initiative directly fulfills a key campaign promise of Governor Pamela Baricuatro to prioritize and revitalize the province's public healthcare system. The influx of professionals is expected to immediately alleviate the heavy workload and burnout experienced by existing staff, leading to faster and more efficient patient treatment.

In a statement, the Provincial Government emphasized that this action underscores Governor Baricuatro's people-centered agenda. "It ensures that hospitals are adequately staffed and that Cebuanos, especially those in far-flung communities, receive the quality medical care they rightfully deserve," the announcement read.

The provincial administration is not stopping here. Plans are already underway to hire additional personnel for six more hospitals in the coming weeks, continuing the push to fill long-vacant positions and build a more resilient healthcare network for all Cebuanos.
