GENERAL SANTOS CITY — Alsons Power Group stepped up regulatory compliance and crisis response readiness through a series of training workshops held with the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).
Training Focus Areas
The company said the sessions focused on improving outage reporting, strengthening grid reliability compliance, and preparing plant and operations personnel to respond to crises and other significant events.
The two-day training, led by Alsons Power’s Legal, Regulatory, Compliance, and Industry Relations (LRCIR) unit in coordination with ERC, introduced standardized protocols and reinforced reporting discipline across its facilities.
Commitment to Compliance
“This training reinforces our commitment to full regulatory compliance and operational discipline,” said Lumen Balboa, vice president for legal, regulatory compliance, and industry relations. She stressed the need for transparency, accountability, and reliable power delivery as grid standards evolve.
ERC resource speakers Mark Joefel, T. Cadiz, and John Tristan U. Dela Cruz highlighted the importance of timely and consistent reporting to maintain grid integrity and system-wide reliability.
New Protocol Rollout
The training also rolled out Alsons Power’s Significant Event and Unplanned Outage Protocol, which aims to standardize responses and improve coordination during operational disruptions.
“Strengthening reporting discipline and alignment with reliability standards enables us to anticipate risks, respond effectively to system events, and consistently deliver stable power,” said Jose Luis R. Angco, senior vice president and business manager for PBU Generations.
Company Commitment
Alsons Power said the initiative aligns with its “We Power with Care” commitment as it continues to build internal capability and deepen regulatory engagement to ensure a stable power supply amid evolving industry requirements.
