Mandaue proposes P5,000 fine for fake emergency calls

The City of Mandaue is moving to curb prank and malicious emergency calls through a proposed ordinance that would impose a P5,000 fine on individuals who make false emergency reports.

Proposed ordinance targets fake emergency calls

Councilor Jennifer Del Mar said the measure aims to protect emergency responders and ensure that police, firefighters, and rescue teams remain available for genuine emergencies.

“Every prank or fake emergency call wastes the time and resources of our responders and could delay assistance to someone who truly needs help. That is why we are proposing a P5,000 fine with no warning for violators,” Del Mar said.
