Residents of Santa Ana in Pampanga are set to receive a significant boost in healthcare services with the start of construction for a major new medical facility. Officials from the Department of Health (DOH) and local government units led a groundbreaking ceremony just before the Christmas holiday, signaling the beginning of work on a P34 million BUCAS Center.
Project Details and Funding
The ceremony, held on December 23, 2025, marked the official launch of the project. The new center will be constructed on a 1.2-hectare parcel of land in Barangay San Bartolome, generously donated by Santa Ana Mayor Dinan Labung. The total investment for the facility is substantial, involving multiple government tiers.
The Pampanga provincial government has committed P50 million to cover essential site development and land filling work. Meanwhile, the national government, through the DOH, will shoulder the costs for the building itself and its equipment. Specifically, P34 million is allocated for construction and an additional P35 million for medical equipment.
Collaborative Effort for Healthcare
The groundbreaking event was a collaborative affair, with representatives from the DOH, the Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital (JBLMGH), the Provincial Government of Pampanga, and the Municipal Government of Sta. Ana all in attendance. This underscores the shared commitment to improving health infrastructure in the region.
Once the construction is complete, the BUCAS Center will be operated through a partnership between the DOH and JBLMGH, ensuring it is integrated into the existing public healthcare network. The project has a clear operational target: authorities aim for the center to be fully functional by July 2026.
Impact on Local Community
The establishment of the BUCAS Center in Santa Ana is poised to make a tangible difference for local residents. It represents a direct investment in accessible healthcare, reducing the need for travel to larger urban centers for certain services. The facility is expected to enhance the capacity for basic and specialized outpatient care, surgical procedures, and ambulatory services in the area.
This project highlights the ongoing efforts to decentralize and improve healthcare access across the Philippines, bringing essential services closer to communities in the provinces.
