The inaugural Cebu Land Masters Run With the Masters witnessed thrilling performances as elite runners from across the Philippines and beyond converged at Davao Global Township on Sunday, November 23, 2025.
Kenyan Dominance in Men's 21K Division
Eric Chepsiror, a Cebu-based Kenyan runner, demonstrated exceptional athletic prowess by claiming victory in the men's 21-kilometer division. The accomplished athlete crossed the finish line with an impressive time of 1 hour, 10 minutes, and 3 seconds, establishing a commanding lead over his competitors.
Chepsiror faced strong competition from Cotabato's Marico Satinitigan, who secured second place with a time of 1:11:25. The podium was completed by Mark Luigi Joyce from Malita, Davao Occidental, who finished third with a time of 1:12:55.
The top five finishers in the men's category included Jave Calolot in fourth position (1:16:12) and Joerge Andrade from Kapatagan, Digos City, who claimed fifth place with a time of 1:16:38.
Women's 21K Crown Goes to Butuan City Athlete
In the women's 21K division, Afjeel Clampiano from Butuan City emerged victorious with a stellar performance, clocking in at 1:29:44. The talented runner showcased remarkable endurance and speed throughout the challenging out-and-back course that started and finished at Davao Global Township in Matina, Davao City.
Lyka Catubig, a standout athlete from the University of Mindanao, captured second place with a time of 1:33:20. Completing the women's podium was Leedy Erika Villamonte from General Santos City, who finished third with a time of 1:36:07.
Despite her impressive performance, the 21-year-old Catubig revealed she entered the race unprepared. "To be honest, I wasn't able to prepare for this race, but I'm still grateful for my performance and for the strength that God always gives me. I'm also happy with my competitors, they were all really strong," said the third-year Criminology student.
Catubig's recent achievements include winning the Puma Davao Half Marathon 2025 women's 21K title in Davao City and the KCC Gensan Marathon 2025 32K crown in General Santos City. She also expressed gratitude to Kenneth Sai of KinetixSports for sponsoring her race slot.
Shorter Distance Categories Produce Exciting Finishes
The event also featured competitive races in shorter distances, with the 12K division producing thrilling results. Corsino Satinitigan from Cotabato claimed the men's overall title with a time of 40:26, narrowly defeating Rico Bansilan (41:07) and Jhondemver Saman (43:37).
In the women's 12K category, Charlen Cos emerged victorious in 53:11, edging out University of Mindanao runner Kate Duffy Gel McDowell (53:19) and Yahchevah Daligdig (53:20) in an extremely close finish.
The 6K titles were claimed by Cresian Mesias and Faith Marie Ocon. Mesias topped the men's category ahead of Raffy Jay Villanueva and RJ Lomboy, while Ocon prevailed past Jocelyn Vale and Juliet Bañoc in the women's division.
The successful inaugural event organized by Cebu Land Masters has established itself as a significant addition to the Philippine running calendar, attracting both elite athletes and recreational runners to the developing Davao Global Township area.
